The prices on these ponies are based on current market value. Prices may vary from pony to pony depending on several factors. Prices on retired ponies will be higher on ponies released in earlier herds.  A retired pony from the first or second herd will be priced higher than a retired pony from the fifth herd, simply because first editions are harder to find. 

Prices will also vary depending on the 1E or first edition number of the pony. Lower numbers are considered more collectible.  Price can also vary depending on how many pieces of a particular pony were produced before it was retired.  For example, a first edition Mosaic Appaloosa, a retired pony from the first herd, of which less than two editions were made can sell for upwards of $500.00.
